I Love Music

WEEKLY PLAYLIST CHALLENGE FOR SEPTEMBER 13, 2019 - WEEK 10

This Week's Theme

Where I Come From!!

Additional Info!

This week I have been focused on where I come from and discovering the people and places that have helped form me as the woman I am today. So this week’s theme is “Where I Come From”. Choose a city, state, province, region, nation, or even continent and select songs that all come from artists that are from that place or a song that mentions that place.

We continue to roll along and have fun with this playlist game. I have learned a lot of new music and I'm getting a lot of positive feedback about our choices so let's play again this week. Thanks everyone for joining us.

……………………………………………………………………………..

Let's have fun and create a playlist together. All genres are welcome and all SW members are welcome to play. Please remember to mark your post as "nudity" if your post contains any explicit lyrics or the video contains even a remote hint of nudity.

1) You can post any genre of song; however if it contains offensive or explicit language please mark your post as "nudity" or "sensitive" because we want to keep this open to as many adults as possible and therefore I won't be marking the main post as adult.

2) You can either list Song Title/Artist or post the YouTube link directly to the song. You want people to be able to listen easily so be sure to include that artist too.

3) Feedback is welcome and banter as well, but remember that there is a person behind every post so no personal attacks will be tolerated and I will remove any such posts.

4) This is an all-inclusive fun challenge so feel free to tag other users in the comments below and remember that no one is ever obligated to play, but everyone is invited and welcome to do so.

5) The challenge will run from Friday to Thursday and I will post the new theme each Friday. (Or late Thursday ET for our friends that are ahead of us.)

6) You can post in the comments or start a separate post with your reply, but please, if you post elsewhere, please link the post in the comments so I and others do not miss it.

7) If you know the story behind a particular artist's song feel free to include that in your post or comments too. Or if you have a story behind why you chose a song or a connection you have to it please feel free to share that too. It makes things even more interesting.

I find it horrible that I have to state the following but because of things that have happened on posts recently I feel the need to remind everyone of the following:
****Please please PLEASE be kind to everyone on the post. Please do not criticize anyone for posting a song. I want this to remain fun for everyone and just because we may not understand why a particular song fits a theme, does not mean that it doesn't. If we make this a kind inclusive place maybe people will be willing to share with us more often. Thank you.****

So who wants to "playlist" with us?

I love Pittsburgh. And I really love old Pgh. That was a certain charm to city with a people that had a hard work ethic. Steel Town USA, the "smokey" city; but as hard a workers worked they played equally as hard as seen in some pics.

West View Park is long gone. There used to be a trolley that ran to it and the old Allegheny County Fair was held there. Everyone went to West View if only for the dancing-and Danceland was the best. In earlier years the best band names performed live there. When West View burned people cried for days on end it seemed.

As for me I can't count the times I have roamed the street corners of downtown Pittsburgh long back in those days actually LOOKING FOR THAT PAWNSHOP on the corner.

I never found it. And perhaps that is part of the charm of the city? Adds a bit of old time mystique to a now transformed city...

I almost posted this one. @Elandra77
@rjc36 There is always the Bing Crosby song "Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania" you can post which is earlier and is the same song. In fact the title of this song is exactly that but many remember it by it's opening line. This was a 1952 song by Guy and I find it charming and fun.

However the remembrance off times past and places long gone I find sad. Forbed Field, Gimbles, The Old Nixon Theater, (on 6th, not Liberty)

The pic above is the old Nixon which was demolishied in 1950 to make room for the Alcoa Building.

Glad to gear you and I were thinking alike.
