Dave Brubeck Quartet, "The Duke" (1955)

Dedicated to the legendary Duke Ellington, my favorite of his songs and the only one I like more than "Take Five". I found the sheet music at age 20 and had fun playing it myself.

Very nice piece - and needless to say it's aged better than quite a lot of the pop of the period

Oh I havent heard this in ages, thank you. It's utterly lovely
@firefall You’re very welcome. I was hearing it as an earworm and this morning remembered it was Brubeck. 😅

Very nice. It does put one in mind of Duke Ellington and his music.

You can play that tune!? 😳
@helenS Yes, or at least I could. I still have the music around and I do still play.

@bijouxbroussard That tune would be much too hard for me to play. Here's something I can play with some effort:

So funny, was just talking to a friend last night who knew Joe Morello and still talks to Jean(his widow).

@bijouxbroussard "Blue Rondo à la Turk" is another great one.
