Is Rap music "played out?"

I'm a fan of 1990s rap but today's rap is just a bunch of saying crazy words, making it rhyme and really it doesn't seem to have a purpose because it doesn't tell a story, like country music or other styles. Of course, not all music have to tell a story. Classical music is enjoyable and some would argue, even classical music tells a story... What story does rap tell? "I'm the best! I'm rich! No one can touch me!" Rap can be enjoyable also but today's rap is just garbage.
