@akindheart @Zenbra Ohhhh .... one of the ugliest sides of our legal system. Creativity is such a subjective issue and what's copyrightable is so difficult to define that the fate of guilt or innocence is beyond the reasonable expectation of a jury or even a judge.

So .... such issues come down to the creative abilities of the lawyers presenting and defending the cases. Which is unfair. Guilt or innocence on anything shouldn't be based on the creative skills of the lawyers.

The purpose behind copyright law is to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas not to constrain them.

@Heartlander yes, I think if it has 8 identical notes in a row it infringes copyright law. Not sure what the law is in England or USA. Ed Sheeran is defending his rights on a song he wrote as it's claimed it is too alike to another one.
