Beatles Nostalgia

Do you get nostalgic when you hear certain music? Mine is the Beatles. My dad loved the Beatles. He bought every album they made until he passed. He also loved the Rolling Stones but we never had Elvis which is weird. He died when I was 11 and i still miss him.

I have a kick ass stereo system in my new car and Sirius XM. I can crank the Beatles up when I drive now.

I heard this song this morning and didn't realize this line came from it "Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans"

Beautiful Boy sung by John Lennon

Yes I do, some songs do it every time. Glenn Campbells’s Wichita Lineman is almost haunting for some reason, Sitting on the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding is another one, and a few of the older Beatles songs….Mellow Yellow by Donovan Leech probably because my sister would play it on the record player on repeat on Saturday afternoons after American Bandstand and Soul Train was over.

@cherokeepatti I remember those songs. Not a Glenn Campbell fan but he was around a long time
I love Beatles … They are and have always been one of my favorite bands …

Oh yes music is a lot of nostalgia for me. Especially since my dad passed last December. Find myself listening to a lot of the music he would tap his toe to in the truck, concerts he took me to, etc. I listened to all the music before anyway, just takes on a different meaning now.

@JesseInTX absolutely. i miss my dad too. for him to like the new bands back then, was fantastic.

Beatles songs always remind me of high school and playing cassette tapes with friends till the morning hours while sipping from bottles of Molson and Babyduck. White album was a favourite. So yes music brings back the memories.

@Canuckle i forgot about the white album!! Never heard of babyduck

@akindheart babyduck was the cheapest wine a person could buy.

There are places I'll remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain

Any song from Neil Diamond. He was my late father's favorite pop music artist. Always makes me smile and wish my dad was still here.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@SmoothKnight those are the best memories...especially when they come up on the radio and you don't expect it. My daughter loved candlebox. i loved it when they came on.

He didn't write that line, but it's a great sentiment nonetheless. As far as remembering my dad, Beatles, Beach Boys, CCR all have a special place.
