To Ames ... A poem for Amy Winehouse

4/10/2018

Amy sings a melody - She doesn't sing to you or me - Amy sings to feel something - When all the world is full of smoke - sorrow spelt out clear and cold - Where despair and loneliness are equal - And tomorrow has no place

Amy sings to disappear - La rubia de la costa in the air - fading into black going back to black - The endless cycle of up - down - down - Maybe someday Amy Will just stay on the ground

Amy sings to an empty room - She doesn't sing to me or you - Amy sings because no one's there - Love is something the Others' share - Amy sings in front of you - Amy sings to an empty room - Amy sings because that's what Amy's do - A trapt bird, a simple suffering thing, always looking to escape in a melody - Amy, Angel Bird, sing!

Amy with an electric grace sings to you a melody - La rubia de la costa in the air - Amy sings and there's no one there - smoke dissipating from a lit cigarette fat purst lips holding onto all of it - When all the world is filled with smoke sorrow spelt out clear and cold - where despair and loneliness have no equal - And tomorrow has no place

The world hangs onto every note and Amy's world is full of smoke

The sad thing is ,she did go to rehab ,almost made it through the rough spots, but what a voice.

The poem is worthy of its subject

@bookerdana Yeah, alcohol is a dangerous substance to try and detox off of. I don't think her bf helped in the matter though.

@Lostpoet I though she had broken with Mr Hathaway...she was just too fragile to touch anything at the end

@bookerdana From what I heard they were supposed to rehab together but he left early or something.
