Acoustical Stills

If you love acoustic guitar.....if you're a life long follower of Stephen Stills then, the lesser known albums, songs, and everything else are rife with such pure string music. He should be enshrined IMO....his guitar, his words.....his shit in general......they are all thought out....and his voice is so distinctive and pure. From Stills Alone a lil' taste for the SW acoustic freakes.

One of my favorite musicians

He did a fair amount of work with Jimi Hendrix. Most of it not officially released.
Hendrix appears on the Stills track 'Old Times,Good Times'.

@Entwistle You've moved up several notches mon ami. Jimi Hendrix said that Stills was the best guitarist he had ever worked with. I'd always found that so cool....particularly when you look at how each had their own diverse turns in terms of music.
Nice. Never heard of him. Good voice too. Thank you. What is your favorite song he does?

@PoetryNEmotion I appreciate your question more than you know. I would not know where to start with him. I was a young teen bound for the military draft when his/and CSN broke in with their music. Many had come out of former cool bands like Buffalo Springfield, the Hollies....where they picked up Graham Nash's superior high vocal notes, the Byrd's bandsman (and recently deceased) David Crosby.....

Hah, if you knew me, you would never ask the question because quite simply, I am totally incapable of choosing one piece. I could point to his split with the band and his sojourn with Manassas, his solo pieces such as Tree Top Flyer which is over the top cool acoustic.....I mean, for me, from the days of my youth to this day Steven IS a friggin' icon. I've no other way to describe him.
Pick through his stuff if you're into it. He is so gifted and unique. The only thing, if at all, I could add in a "favorite" type thing is that, he is my favorite musician....and that is saying a host of things my friend.
Get into him, and dig on the early to late stuff. I never want this dude to pass....

That's where I'm at with the man. I've seen him live.....such good stuff. Straight up.
@Freeranger Music touches us so deeply. I am always asking questions. That is how I learn. Glad you have such an icon to lift you. Thank you for a great answer.

@PoetryNEmotion The music is always there mon ami.....It's capable of lifting you as well if you're willing to strap it on. Good hunting.

I like that you like this. :)

@ChampagneOnIce My friend, you melt me with your reply. His music was something that paralleled my life as so many tumultuous things were happening in the country at that time. To this day.....he is a pulse and an artery to my soul babe. Truly

@Freeranger I could feel that in how you described him in your post. I can understand your point of view, and I like how you know yourself.

@ChampagneOnIce there are just, in some cases, artists who heighten senses not unlike a fine woman who, feeling the same impulses....either agree or submit perhaps. Just an opinon
