What's the easiest way to learn to read music?

in a lot of towns, there's a music shop where you can buy instruments, supplies, and books of music. sometimes, there will be an employee there who can give you beginners lessons at the store where you pay for each lesson as you go. they will teach you your scales and arpeggios, and you will learn to read music during this stage. later you can practice with more and more complex books of music, if you are still interested. it can be tedious at first, but if you stick with it, it's super enjoyable to play songs you love.

I'm in the same boat, I tried Youtube, it has some great tutorials. However, for me the best has been finding a music teacher.
