Were there really NO black new wave bands or artists in the 80s?

I looked through a list of over 100 best new wave bands and there was not a single black person on it:

The 80s wouldn't be the last great decade of music if not for the black artists that struggled to get attention from MTV and crossover radio.

Some of my favs were Culture Club, ABC, Squeeze, Scritti Politti - they were not doing anything so different from Prince, Andre Cymone, Rick James, The BarKays, Cameo - one hit wonders like Rockwell and even some OGs like George Clinton. These black bands made straight new wave hits.

If you call Bananarama a new wave girl group, don't you have to call Vanity 6 / Apollonia 6 a new wave girl group? If Duran Duran made the Prince albums Dirty Mind, Controversy and 1999, they would be called new wave classics.
