George Gershwin - "An American in Paris"

[media=https://youtu.be/KU1X3Wut-k0]

When you're in the mood to celebrate Valentines with a good old film, the ending of Vincent Minelli's An American in Paris is simply divine, with all those crazy toe tapping tapping, and musically it's the best i've heard of the master of jazzy classical George Gershwin. I can hear in my mind at anytime the phrase "Gershwin on his ghettoblaster" in Derek Jarman's The Last of England. btw this lovely bouncy and sublime music goes really well with Pickwick Papers!! My neck is getting a good workout bobbing my head side to side and back and forth .....:)

His response to the first reviews of An American In Paris: "It's not a Beethoven Symphony, you know… It's a humorous piece, nothing solemn about it. It's not intended to draw tears. If it pleases symphony audiences as a light, jolly piece, a series of impressions musically expressed, it succeeds."
