On "When the Night Comes Down - Judas Priest"

This song made it to my playlist back when I enlisted after 9/11. I remember I used to listen to it on this baseball field on Fort Bragg on the COSCOM side. I used to like to run there in that field after we were released for the day.

I had just joined the unit and remember hearing about the guntrucks and how you don't really get much of a chance to fight in Iraq. You just ride around in soft skinned HMMWVs till you get blown up. Then they wash out the body parts and put the next guy in.

So I was walking around that field after "work" thinking about my probability of getting blown up if we deployed, which we luckily never did.

Although I did go to Afghanistan later but that's a different story.

But anyways all these memories of that field and the worry I had and the new job anxiety of being new to the army are all encapsulated in this song for me because it was during that time it was my favorite song on my mp3 player (they didnt have Spotify yet).

So here you are, "When The Night Comes Down"...
