Shinedown [Just extra words since it said the title was too short]
Just sharing a few of my favorite songs by Shinedown. How do you feel about them? I’ve seen them thrown into the mix with other ‘Divorced Dad Rock’ bands which maybe they do kinda have that vibe, but personally I think they’re awesome!

First on the list is Second Chance. I’ll give my take on this song specifically since it’s my favorite by them. For me it’s song about being in a bad place life whether it’s physically, emotionally, financially, spiritually, etc. And the only chance of things getting better is by saying goodbye to whatever it is holding you back. That can be a person, a place, maybe even something you enjoy, or even just the old you.
Brent Smith has said he wrote the song based on a conversation he had with his mother about leaving his small town to pursue his music career. Prior to this, he had a failed record deal and was also dealing with substance abuse. He went on to form Shinedown and made a decision to get sober. This transformation fueled his songwriting, leading to the creation of songs like "Second Chance," which reflected his journey of overcoming adversity.
When I hear this song I picture someone just running away. They find the nearest train station with no idea of where it’s going or when they’ll get there but the biggest decision is just getting on and never looking back.
