@AliceinWonderland I genuinely WANT that Era of music BACK so bad. You don't know the end of it. [media=https://youtu.be/u8wQNoUX2mk]

But you're really seeing the delicate side of my taste in music, as opposed to the brutal end. still. It really feels like something's been lost.
@PDXNative1986 i like your delicate music side. and i agree. these songs were so sweet!

@AliceinWonderland and I do mean BAD. Pop music fans had AMAZING taste back then and popular music was actually Good.

@AliceinWonderland a lot of people just, shoved this stuff into the closet and forgot about after the earlier half of the 90s was over, and my point is, we shouldn't of, As a poet I struggle sometimes with language simply because sometimes sentiments are just too powerful to be encapsulated entirely by words, and this honestly is one of those times where feelings are too powerful to be described fully. I know the debut album like the back of my own hand, very familiar.

@AliceinWonderland it's like there was just something in the air I was aware of but sort of missed out on because I was too young to fully appreciate what was happening and then I grew up and I'm like I would Kill to have this back. Remember I'm a child of 1986, so this was a bit "Before my time" but I loved it when it was new.

@AliceinWonderland Them 90s were fucking CRAZY times in music I swear a lot of the best pop ever GAVE us came out of that era, and we're not talking the later half of the decade.

1992. that's when this was released.

@AliceinWonderland But of course, that side of my taste in music also connects to more modern tracks because it's also my romantic side, and one thing about romance is that every generation brings its version of it.

@AliceinWonderland Heh! I've been a fan of hers ever since that song. To be honest, it was work learning to appreciate that song after the memories that got tied up with it. when it was new mom had this job doing daycare and she looked after the little so I got sent in with the older kids and there was this girl Danielle who for some reason reached out to me and was truly sweet, and I had such a crush for her for the ENTIRE summer that song was dominating the airwaves, we probably sung it to each other like 6 or 7 times so I spent as much time with her as I could but one day when we stopped going I remember I kept running into her in public on accident and she turned on me without, ever, explaining why the drastic change in sentiment. I never fully understood the 180. I was truly fond of her. so it was years before I started to like the song again after that, because like I told you, it got so deeply intertwined with my memories of her. And that's not the only Donna Lewis song I've had to reclaim after love lost to be honest. I remember consciously taking this one back and how I started to realize I finally got over my first love when I could listen again without getting upset. I remember taking it back defiantly like fuck it I won't let you ruin this for me. I gotta breathe too.

@AliceinWonderland Now I'm stumped. I'm trying to think. I wonder if I've ever shown you impulsive, I imagine I've gushed about it to you before so..

@AliceinWonderland That Song, it lead to me writing my old experience project think piece where I talked about how guarded everyone had become emotionally and everything and I wanted that back, that sense of being able to dream out loud, unafraid. I remember it. "I want to live in a world without walls."

it's the original inspiration. they were my muses.
@PDXNative1986 i dont know this one

@AliceinWonderland There's so much that's been forgotten that was golden....

But for context, that one's impulsive. Goes to show how atypical I was for a boy. I never did that boys club boys only shit or thought grrls had cooties and long before I ever understood arousal I already was romancing them.
@PDXNative1986 i like this song

@AliceinWonderland Like I was saying, or was about to, I have an autistic savant-like ability to remember music. Helps that I am on the spectrum. It doesn't present very strongly,, it shows more in sensitivities to food flavor and scent, That's sort of the achilles heel that gives it away.
PDXNative1986 · 36-40, MVIP
@AliceinWonderland [media=https://youtu.be/XNrJ0gg_8tY]

it's fair to say I adore the band, I just hid that fact away for a long time as my friends started to dive more and more into metal, and I into industrial. You'll find that even my most brutal stuff these days retains an danceability element. even the punks I hung out with were trending hardcore, so I hid this side away. but what you suppress has a tendnency to come back with force.
PDXNative1986 · 36-40, MVIP
@AliceinWonderland I'm more a dancing to the war machines set to synth brutal. when it goes there. but that's my taste's twin, that's my taste's dark side. You like the light, so that's what I tend to show you. [media=https://youtu.be/_mpS1Dw_4VY]

it's more bottomless than you realize, though, especially because it is always growing as I make discoveries. both aspects are ALWAYS growing and learning.
PDXNative1986 · 36-40, MVIP
@AliceinWonderland but just to give you a sample of what the darker aspect is into. I promise this is on the gentler side of it. Shadow Side likes it synthetic, electric, and danceable.
