Most bands slowly (or quickly) go downhill after their first album. Tell me a band that got progressively better with each album released.

@ninalanyon each band or musician - examples of second and third albums you don't need to buy include everything by Jefferson Airplane after their first one, and everything after Frampton Comes Alive by Peter Frampton. The list goes on. Led Zeppelin made one too many!
Bob Dylan should have quit way earlier.

@Roundandroundwego That still leaves Led Zep with a dozen and Frampton did four before Frampton Comes Alive. You might have a point but your supporting examples don't make it for you.

@ninalanyon okay. Frampton was totally known before Frampton comes alive and that next album wasn't just for the money - and whatever. Plus anything. And conservative marriage is a great theme for a rock song, you and me together, forever, nothing un starship there!
