I heard this before I heard the Four Seasons/Valli version--and when I finally heard it, it sounded exactly as it did in my head.

@uncalled4 I remember the Detroit Spinners version when I was a child. I heard the Four Seasons version in a shop years later. I much prefer the Spinners.

@KarenisKenziesmum I have never been a Four Seasons fan in the least. I respect Frankie Valli and the team who made those records and I even have a few 45s, but that's it.
70s soul did it for me--Spinners, Stylistics, Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes, Teddy Pendergrass, etc.
Valli's mid-70s solo hits are much more enjoyable.
Honestly, some of the Four Seasons/70s Bee Gees stuff sounds like cats trying to sing.

@uncalled4 I like old soul music myself. I don't mind the Four Seasons, they are all right. I don't care for the Bee Gees doing that Saturday Night Fever stuff.

@KarenisKenziesmum It's funny, I think they did the majority of their best work before and after SNF.

@uncalled4 I've heard some of the older ones like "Massachusetts" and "Words", and those are all right.

@KarenisKenziesmum That was killer stuff.
