What Pink Floyd did couldn’t be done

Over and aver and over again like the Beatles did there nonsense over and over again.
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
I watch both bands evolve from the get go. I was a freshman in HS when Beatlemania hit. I assure you it was not the same thing over and over again. Listen to the Beatles first album which came out in '63 and then listen to Abbey Road and Let It be.

@MoveAlong I was in elementary school when they came along. I was never a fan but agree with you 💯. The same goes for Pink Floyd, I am still a fan, over and over is a ridiculous description of their sound progression.

The only musical artists that recorded more great songs than Pink Floyd was the Beatles.

@eli1601 And Dark Side of the Moon is the longest album ever run on Billboards top 20.

Both of those bands ended up in entirely different places from where they began. You can like them or hate them, but you can't say that they sounded the same album to album.

@uncalled4 Yes – "UmmaGumma" and "The Wall" sound as if they were made by two entirely different bands.

I may have worded it wrong probably gonna delete this post anyway. But you can’t continue to do what Pink Floyd did. You can’t continue to write about the stuff they wrote about. Mythological. Surreal, profound stuff. Philosophical.

@Jonjdw Yes, it came over as something entirely different.
So you're a big Floyd fan?
Jonjdw · 51-55, M
@helenS yes

@Jonjdw I like a part of their output too; mainly their early albums. Specifically, the one with Syd Barrett (can't remember the silly name), and their early live album, "UmmaGumma".
You should set the controls for the heart of the sun

Where is "there"? Is it Liverpool? I live only about 40 miles from there.
