“Hold Me Now” – Thompson Twins

[media=https://youtu.be/TvzVTRK1nOY]
The Second British Invasion took place in the early to mid-1980s with the rise in popularity of British Synth-Pop and New Pop acts in America. Like the British Invasion of the 1960s, it brought a “revolution in sound and style” to the US, according to Rolling Stone. The Thompson Twins, a band formed in Sheffield, were part of this second “invasion”.

“Hold Me Now” was written and recorded by the Thompson Twins in 1983. It was released as a single in February 1984 in the US, where it rose to #1 on the Dance Club chart, #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and #8 on the Adult Contemporary chart. The song was in the top 10 in at least seven other countries.

Blender has included “Hold Me Now” on their list of the “500 Greatest Songs Since You Were Born”.
