“Revolved around her soul, as the earth to the sun.” It’s Dark and you almost grieve but at the same time Cathartic.

Cathartic and beautiful. There is grief felt within the lyrics. I think I learned the meaning of grief in this song. I often look to this song when I need to remind myself how to feel, so thank you for sharing how you see it. And edit to add, 'those five horizons' with very poetic lyrics after, I never could make out what the horizons were, and since I can sing the song in my heart I have never looked up the lyrics to let them exist, but for such a young band at the time, the amount of emotional understanding given I was lucky to have had them growing up, because those five horizons can be the stages of grief.

@SW-User I watched a thing about how Eddie Vedder fought hard to not release this song as a single because of the emotional meaning behind it. After everyone watched the unplugged when he sang it he was flooded with fan mail thanking him for helping them through grief or thoughts of self harm after listening.

@AlittleBitGenX For how personal it was and Eddie was known for being private. His band members had to support him taking the mic when he first took in front of audiences. It's so often those who feel deeply, don't need their expression public, but once they release their emotions so many understand he probably feared.

@AlittleBitGenX And to the song below, Hunger Strike. This just illustrates how shy he was. The reason it's set in fields with foliage covering his face is because he wanted that escape away. It was the only way he would reveal his face.
