I need some meditation music recomandations...

Hey so lately i realised i am really into meditation music. I read a lot of stuff about space exploration and some meditation music makes this even better ha ha.
So you guys know some bands or some songs that are like... ambient, sci-fi or ancient civilization, space exploration, galactic spirit type ?
Thank you :3

I've spent many hours trancing out to this album,if you appreciate middle eastern vibes this is one of Bryn Jones' more cohesive works...

Also beware that his catalogue is massive and contains lots of pure noise.

I ALWAYS recommend On-U sound and any of its variations -here's Creation Rebel taking us out there with a dub from '81.[media=https://youtu.be/nDp0mv34UNA]

@BlueGreenGrey oh-incarcerated Charles. Radio was not approved at Spahn Ranch.
Only his original music,Beatles and, oddly enough,The Moody Blues were on the commune playlist.
@dubkebab no Beach Boys?

I know I always liked Hearts of Space better than the next-best thing to it that I could locate in its stead, a show called Echoes

@BlueGreenGrey That's a really good point! How could they not jam out to brother Dennis?
They had his gold records lying around and he paid way more than his share of the yogurt bill.
I have a friend who was there at the time...next time we randomly connect I have more questions for her.

Yes,music from the hearts of space was a beacon at the time. We all knew Vollenweider,Jean Michelle Jarre and Vangelis-but where other than pricey new age stores were you going to find more of this stuff? As I recall the New Age/ambient category back then was 90% bland sonic wallpaper.

Holst's The Planets Suite, based on astrology not astronomy?

Of its movements, Mars is suitably martial for the God of War; Jupiter is literally jovial as the Bringer of Jollity. You might not want Saturn as he is portrayed as the mournful, slowly staggering, Bringer of Old Age. However, the last movement shows Neptune as the Mystic, and ends in a slow, dreamy, fading vocalese in a lilting 5/4 time.

Or modern recordings of the works of the 13C abbess, Hildegaard of Bingham? These are sacred songs, in Latin, and certainly meditative.

Or a very strange meditative piece indeed, although it does last a full, continuous eight hours! This is Max Richter's Sleep - I think its subtitle is "A Lullaby For Our Time". Its overnight premiere several years ago, played by musicians in relays to a theatre audience invited to bring sleeping-bags and camping-mattresses, was broadcast live overnight on BBC Radio Three. With my bedroom radio turned down low I did indeed sleep to most of it, waking occasionally, and eventually fully to hear its ending.
Pluto when they go off air.

If you are listening to music you aren't meditating.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@hunkalove Sorry, I don't see how that squares with your first remark, that you can't meditate and listen to music at the same time. I thought meditation means paying attention only to your thoughts, so you don't want anything external.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
@ArishMell In Thailand the monks not only meditate in the midst of city sounds like traffic but with a ticking clock to remind them they are running out of time in this life. Your thoughts aren't very important in meditation, or in life. They come and go and are mostly a distraction. Not something to pay much attention to. The last thing I would want tp hear while meditating is music.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@hunkalove I see. I suppose it must be very individual, but I had always understood meditation to want as few external stimuli as possible. Perhaps it depends how well you can focus on your meditative thoughts, and maybe some people do find it easier with soothing music.

@BlueGreenGrey I love how the vocal samples on Pogo-Alice turn into idioglossolalia, very clever edits.
@dubkebab that's one of my fave aspects of it ... a couple of people on YouTube have also posted their own "drum covers" using this as a backing track
