Ay yeah my paternal gma was full blood immigrant but I never got to meet her. I think I have like 1/8th coming in from my mom's side too. I stumbled on to Spotify's New Music Friday Polski playlist a couple years ago and I just LOVE some of the music coming out of that country. Don't know a lick of what they're saying but they have some great song writers and producers.
I did start learning Polish on duolingo this year though so I could maybe pick up a few song lines. 316 days in, I'm surprised how much I've picked up so far.

@Starcrossed It was my first language growing up.
I only speak English now just because I don't know any Polish people IRL
I utter the odd sentence here and there to my.kids and they understand but god forbid they try to speak it back 🥲

@Teggy I know you're Canadian now, did you grow up there or in Poland?
Lol and don't even ASK me to reproduce some of the words I've learned. Some of them I haven't yet figured out mouth shape to make the sounds 😅 and duolingo is no help with that or laying out proper grammar rules. It's one thing to hear and comprehend them and a whole other to spit it out coherently 🤭 and omg I'm really feelin' the wear and tear I have put on my hearing. Unless I put duo on slow speak mode, I usually totally miss the w and z in sentence at normal speed. I think I'll start catching them better as I come to expect one to be there in a given sentence.

@Starcrossed know what I completely forget the fact that it's actually really tricky learning a new language. Especially the pronounces of words lol
So I wasn't born in Poland. Actually born in South Africa to a full Polish family. Eventually immigrating to Canada. 🤔 Not sure why Canada instead of Australia or somewhere without snow but I can't really complain lol

I'm happy now I know where to go when there's a song I come across with no lyrics listed to translate but I'm still curious what is being sung. Usually I'm fine not knowing but every so often I'll get really curious if I quite like the sound of the song. Sorry not sorry for the future shoulder taps, my friend. 😉☺️
