Stevie Wonder – “Superstition” (Live on Sesame Street)

[media=https://youtu.be/_ul7X5js1vE]
On this day in 1973, Stevie Wonder played a live, extended version of his hit song “Superstition” on the popular children’s TV series, Sesame Street.

The performance took place after several segments where Wonder attempted to teach Grover how to sing.

Wonder performed with other members of his band, who stayed focused on the music and were oblivious to the puppet characters and kids around them:

"You couldn't be distracted," said bass player Scott Edwards. "If you look at the clips, we're all keeping an eye on him [Wonder] or listening to what he's doing. I really don't remember those puppets and stuff."

All of the show’s cast and crew had a wonderful time during the performance, according to Sonia Manzano, who played Maria on Sesame Street:

"The whole studio rocked out and it was great because, white people, black people, young people, old people - everybody was on the same page," recalled Manzano. "Moments like Stevie being on the show gave us a glimpse of the way things could be."

I used to play "Superstition" at College discos in 1974/75 - always got people up on the dance floor!
