“Ventura Highway” – America

[media=https://youtu.be/bq1k95uHgcY]
“Ventura Highway” is an evocative song that continues to resonate with people more than 50 years after its release.

America band member and songwriter Dewey Bunnell has noted its timeless quality. In 2000, he stated, “I really believe that 'Ventura Highway' has the most lasting power of all my songs. It's not just the words — the song and the track have a certain fresh, vibrant, optimistic quality that I can still respond to."

The music video posted here contains a clip I edited from a longer video filmed along the coastal highway (SR 1) in California’s Big Sur region. My objective was to create a video that captures the spirit of the song and is fun to watch.

Everytime I get to the West Coast I'm struck by how different your geography is. You have such impressive altitude so close to the water. We have broad coastal plains where you have mountains. That drive looks so beautiful.

@sarabee1995 The East Coast's geography is indeed very different from that of the West Coast. Your part of the country does, however, have its own beauty, as you can attest to. The coastline just isn't as spectacular as what you find in California.

@sarabee1995 Lived in a town in New Zealand once....miles from the coast. 14 km to the West Coast and 14 km from the East. Decisions, decisions....I moved to the west. A beautiful spot called Ahipara.
