They really need to change the name to music hall of fame.
Ramrod · 46-50, M
@FreeSpirit1 I feel the same way.

To build a trope that rnr was given birth somewhere specific and knowledge of it lays in the hands of collegiate musical scholars.
The best of it was never part of the strict structured intellectualism. Neither splashed on the early pre consumerist covers of the Rolling Stone. Where was Jimi, Jim and Janis on year one? There was no excuse for that.
The whole of it is dipped in American consumerism and the first of many officially "cancel culture" (aka snubbery) now standard practice by the button down corporate money bags.
Don't get me wrong I loved the idea of halls of fame but know that soul blues or funk even had regional heroes. This dumping of everything into one gigantic category only dilutes everything.
I only say all this because I was always a listener of everything and know what's been snubbed. No matter where I go and talk to younger ppl they are shocked at what they never heard of.
Here's an example. Until 5 years after I mentioned it this wasn't even on their radar but was humongous in its time. Have a listen.

It's not a rock and roll only hall of fame.
It's more of a let's pretend it's rock n roll and call it rock and roll but actually try to erase rock n roll by confusing the hell out of the definition of rock n roll.
1. Them put in anyone that will sell admission tickets.
2. Hold great rock n roll great performers out long enough or even permanently to create controversy and awareness hall of fame.
3. Continue the phoney mythical status of industry created monster groups by putting them in first and insisting at every opportunity they actually were the greatest musical wonders ever to rise to fame.
4. Lots of press and radio coverage and articles that defend this sham, prevent anyone from actually using the term rock or roll to set up a better museum.
5. Keep it somewhere close to the advertising giants where people willing to compromise their rock roots and other dimwit crowds can be drawn.
I think that covers it. Let me know if I missed any otherwise obvious aspect about the not rock hall of fame.
🙂

Half of those aren't rock n roll artists.

Until Jethro Tull is in the HOF I can't take it seriously

Surely they aren't all dead yet?

Cher without Sonny? What a scam!
Hopefully most on the list DON’T get in.
How about convincing me more than two names on the list are deserving…?

Yet the Monkees still are not in there. Half of these artists should have been inducted years ago. The R&R Hall of Fame is a total joke.
JustJan · F
one day the Wonderfully talented Paul Rogers and Paul Carrick might be on it
Steve42 · 56-60, M
Bout time on Cher. When did Mariah Carey do rock? Ozzy is shoein.

@Lilymoon You want to get away?
Azlotto · M
Yoko Ono not on the list? ...jk...I nominate Cher.
@Azlotto Yes, we all enjoy screaming and screaching while banging pot lids, Ono is an 80 something toddler.
Azlotto · M
Frampton, Kool and the Gang, Foreigner, Ozzy, and Cher, should have all been nominated, and inducted, at least 30 years ago.
