@Soossie Once stayed in an ancient cottage in the middle of a bog in Connemara. Thick concrete walls cut out all sound from outside and almost all light although the stars in the night sky were much brighter than usual; no light pollution. In the morning I noticed the female member of the young couple who owned it out in the garden picking my breakfast - herbs and edible flowers. A unique and memorable experience. We've lost a lot because of "progress". 🥴
