My Top 5 ABBA Albums

Going old school today, to include the widest demographic, and...The 5 Best ABBA Albums, as picked by my good self. See what you think. Agree? Disagree?

5 "The Album" (1977)

For me, a continuing piece to 'Arrival', it has 'Eagle', 'Take A Chance On Me', 'The Name Of
The Game', 'Hole In Your Soul' and 'Thank You For The Music'. A lovely album. The album cover is iconic too.

4 "Arrival" (1976)

This is ABBA hitting their peak, or at least their stride. Packed full of wonderful tunes,
in different styles. It has 'Dancing Queen', 'Knowing Me, Knowing You', 'Money, Money, Money',
and 'Tiger', amongst other highlights. Pretty damn fantastic.

3 "The Visitors" (1981)

This is my grandmother's (I call her the GLAMmother) favourite ABBA album, as such I've
heard it a lot over the years. The last ABBA album, before the 'comeback'. The title track
is great, very minor key, very claustrophobic, very cold war. 'Head Over Heels', 'One Of Us',
'Slipping Through My Fingers', 'Like An Angel Passing Through My Room' and 'The Day Before
You Came'. All great tunes.

2 "Voulez-Vous" (1979)

ABBA law is that they recorded all their studio tracks in Sweden, with the exception of this
title track, recorded in Miami, fact fans! It's lovely. The lead off track, 'As Good As New'
is just pure ABBA, given a funky little twist. I love 'I Have A Dream', 'Does Your Mother
Know'(a rare lead vocal from Bjorn), 'Chiquita' and, even though it was released as a
stand-alone single, before the album, I'm going to throw 'Summer Night City' which is on
the CD version, it's my favourite ABBA single. Wonderful album.

1 "Super Trooper" (1980)

Such a fantastic album. Sounds good. Beautiful songs, great energy and wonderful performances.
The title track is amazeballs. There's the drama that is 'The Winner Takes It All', the
anathematic 'On And On And On', the gorgeous 'Happy New Year'. I love 'Me And I', 'Lay All
Your Love On Me', 'The Piper' and 'The Way Old Friend's Do'. Old school. Brilliant.
