Madonna @ The O2, London 15th October '23

2nd show of the world tour, and the 3rd Madonna gig that I have ever been to. @KarenDuponteDurose is the big fan and, although I went with her last, back in the 90's - can't remember what tour - I hadn't gone again with her until last night.

Kaz normally goes with other friends, with me being the more 'Rock Chick' in our relationship, but I thought it'd be cool for her and I to see her. Yesterday (Saturday), we went with our daughter. Tonight? It's the grown ups!

Yesterday? First show and, of course, Madonna has had her medical issues earlier on - the rehearsing for the tour, the driving herself into the ground, getting a bacterial infection, found unconscious at home by her daughter and rushed into hospital where she spends 5 days in intensive care. Scary for anyone...scary for any 65 year old prepping her first world tour since the whole covid pandemic.

So...yesterday...few technical issues....some honest speaking about her life whilst those gremlins are worked out...and, throughout some 20+ full versions of her hits with another 15+ segues (parts of songs) that transition the various parts of the show. Some 20 odd costume changes...the same number of dancers....loads of platforms into the audience...a shedload of vid screens and that all makes the show part history (the thing about the ex's was fun!), part show. Certainly unlike anything this lil gal has seen before.

..and the performance? Spot on. Very professional. Very on point. Very emotional, from both sides - audience and stage performers.

I'm happy to pop on the Madonna shirt that I got yesterday and head for our 2nd show. Babysitter tonight looking after our Hope.

We get some looks on the way...few people have similar t-shirts heading to the show....they throw a knowing head nod in our direction, like...they were there, man, yesterday...they know just what a spectacle this is going to be. Others look at us in a 'Wow! They were there yesterday!' kinda glance.

We get in, toilet break, get some drinks and chill. We find our seats and chat to the couple next to us. Nice people. We tell 'em we were there yesterday. They look excited. They ask how it was...we don't want to spoil the gig...we just tell them 'Magical...'

...and so it became...

No gremlins tonight...just well executed...like a Ninja...

I think, same setlist....same excitement.

Just glad to say "I was there..."
