Madonna At The O2 - 14th Oct 2023

Madonna at the O2 Arena, London 14 October 2023..

It's opening night on the world tour. Lots of traffic around London today, due to the whole Palestine March in the capitol, let alone Madonna's coming back to the UK.

So, we get there, with some time to spare - myself, Samantha and Hope (complete with earplugs, just in case!) - and, pretty soon, just on the grounds of the venue we're stopped by a woman that's offering £2K (per ticket!) if we want to sell ours!

Bit of a shock there! We, of course, decline...

We head in. There's T-Shirts and all the usual apparel, but from throughout her career. Some cash is...erhhh....spent by my good self on a few items, and we get Hope a T-Shirt too.
The stage? Lots of ramps and video screens. No live band, but some musicians appear throughout - much to Hope's annoyance.

Some parts of tracks - guitar stuff, backing vocals, some keyboards, rhythm tracks - are pre-recorded but all her vocals are live. Why? The MD (Musical Director) wanted it as near as damn it close to the original recordings...and, I guess, with 20 + dancers as well, that's a lot of stage to take up.

The show started late, due to opening night technical issues and was stopped part-way through, probably due to the same tech issues. Whilst that was all happening, Madge regaled us with tales of her youth, how she didn't have bathing facilities back in those days, and how she was happy to have got over her health scare earlier this year.

The crowd were nuts! The show itself? I think Madonna had something like 20 costume changes throughout and there were over 25 of her hits, with seagues of some other songs as transitional parts.
At 65 years old, boy has she got stamina. She was on for over 2 hours and worth every penny...

Good job really as me and Samantha are going back again for Sunday's show!

Here's a vid of 'Vogue' to capture the flavour of the show...

So, it was part concert, part history lesson. Samantha was impressed by the whole spectacle...and Hope? Well, I think it blew her mind! Me? One of her best concerts.

Wonderful to have Madge back.

Hope was a very tired girl on the way back home. Just put to bed....

Roll on Sunday night....

@KarenDuponteDurose, babe, it was shockingly good! Very emotional evening. we both cried during the whole 'Live To Tell' segment; in honour of all the victims of HIV+ and AIDS over the years. Just well put together and tasteful show.

I know you're the Madonna nut, not me, but I wished she played longer!

😘

@HannahSky It was absolutely fantastic. I've never been to a show quite like it...

We were fairly near the front too.

Wonder why she chose England to start the tour?
KarenDuponteDurose · 46-50, F
@HotPizza71 @SammyJo She started the 'Girlie World Tour' at Wembley Stadium, back in 1993....which was not long after we started dating, Samantha...so probably our first concert date, pet.
