@Penny If you'd answered my Roy Orbison post I'd have asked "Is your surname Arcade, by any chance?". Lol :)

Yes, the Beatles were brilliant and great. But there were many other equally good bands in the 1960's. In 1967, the Beatles released their Sgt. Pepper album, and the Beach Boys released their Pet Sounds album. Personally, I prefer Pet Sounds.

@badminton I think that the breadth of their output (not volume, but musical breadth) and # songwriters gives the Beatles a very solid position.

One-hit wonders are creators of great songs, by definition; but one great song doesn't put them in contention with a slot alongside the Beatles.

I do think that we need recognition for the "few hit" wonders, though.

@badminton Actually, when Paul McCartney heard Pet Sounds for the very first time, he hailed it as one of the best albums ever made.
they have some good ones...

@AliceinWonderland That one sounds pornographic. Come together, right now, over me? How did they get away with releasing that all those years ago?

I do love the Beatles but I'm partial to the Stones
graphite · 61-69, M
@Lilymoon “I would like to just list what we did and what the Stones did two months after on every f***n’ album. Every f***n’ thing we did, Mick does exactly the same – he imitates us.” - John Lennon
Lilymoon · F
@graphite Well in their defense they have a much bigger catalogue .... but I don't doubt Mick was copying.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@Lilymoon I don't think so. Mick Jagger doesn't remind me of John Lennon.

I was raised on The Beatles. My mom saw them live twice.

This song has one of those great little George Harrison into riffs. So good.
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
One of the best groups of all time, next to the Rolling Stones.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@Barefooter25 They both still have a fervent following where I live.

I was singing Help before going to bed last night ....:)
I absolutely worship the Beatles 🎶
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@BridgeOvertroubledWaters They still have a fervent following where I live. It's only about 40 miles from Liverpool (where the Beatles came from).

Is this a trick question?

Great Beatles pick!
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@Canuckle I heard it on the radio, that's why I picked it.

🤔...........To bad Yoko broke the Beatles up.............What was John thinking???
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@Jimmy2016 How did Yoko break up the Beatles? What are you thinking?
graphite · 61-69, M
@Jimmy2016 They were breaking up anyway. Yoko didn't really cause anything, other than to irritate the other Beatles by showing up in the recording studio everyday.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@graphite That sounds more likely.
