@carpediem It's probably the concert I would attend if I could go back to any....even more than Woodstock...or Monterey
carpediem · 61-69, M
@originnone Agreed. I'd love to Clapton and Billy Preston together again.

@graphite I remember the cartoon, and I think there were trading cards. I remember having an album called "something new," but I've never heard mention of it outside of actually having it passed down to me. I read once where John felt dissed by George because George mentioned all the people who helped him learn to be a songwriter and never mentioned John.

@originnone "Something New" was their 3rd album, I think. Yes, George wrote a bio where John said George credited every two-bit sax player for his success but didn't mention John. George responded that this worked both ways, with George doing things like writing an uncredited line in "Come Together" and stuff like that. (Supposedly George wrote the signature first four notes of "And I Love Her," once again with no writing credit.)

@graphite I always wondered how they do credits for writing songs....like with Clapton basically writing the guitar solo of "while my guitar..." I once heard Mike Love wanted credit for writing "I get around" because he wrote the "round round get around" part in the beginning.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
I remember watching some of it on YouTube recently.

@originnone Newcastle arena wasn't seated..I was up front too.
originnone · 61-69, M
@Entwistle Wow....I wouldn't have thought the Who would have a concert without seats....In the US, those are typical for smaller bands....although I saw Modest Mouse and the Killers at a small venue. When I was in high school, I lived about an hour from Cincinnati when they had the concert at which people got trampled to death.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@originnone As far as as i recall the Newcastle Telewest Arena had no seating that night. Maybe there was some seating..I don't recall any though.

George Harrison invented the rock charity concert.

@graphite And I don't think they did another one for 25 years or so....
graphite · 61-69, M
@originnone Live Aid, 1985.

@graphite My friends all went to it. I decided not to. I'm kind of glad I did. Crowds are horrible.

@HoraceGreenley but I'll bet you remember Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Take a look at the concern for Bangladesh; it was amazing.

@originnone true and OK

I actually do. I liked a lot of George Harrison’s music from back then.
originnone · 61-69, M
@bijouxbroussard His album, "All things must pass" was about four albums in one, and I always wanted it, but it was $14.
