The Band ~ Forever Young

For those who know how to keep a vow to themselves, and for those they love.

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
May you stay forever young
May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the light surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
May you stay forever young
May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
May your song always be sung
And may you stay forever young
May you stay forever young

The lyrics mean well, but it's not a practical approach to life.

@thewindupbirdchronicles
if I settle upon only on the Stoic parts of life, I might forget the meaning of love. I'd rather dance like a dervish.
I'm not sure what you mean by dervish. Perhaps you meant dancing with the Devil ( I have the poem ready to post about such) but I can only go stoic for self preservation. I do it less and less though, because I need to feel...all emotions and the one you mentioned is the greatest, even if it's loving myself/ourselves (everyone).
@MoonlightLullaby A dervish: "Dervishes first appeared in the 12th century; they were noted for their wild or ecstatic rituals and were known as dancing, whirling, or howling dervishes according to the practice of their order. " Quick quote. Specifically associated with Sufism. They renounced material gain to enter austere impoverishment. I'd say they were longing for meaning. I was using it towards chasing meaning with abandonment. Hardly practical, chasing the meaning of life in dance? They mesmerized people with trance like dances. Don't think they were associated with the devil. 😉

Sooooo.... yes, I was getting at feeling all emotions, as without, I might forget the meaning of love/life. 💖

@thewindupbirdchronicles Thanks for the lesson. I love learning new things! I briefly skimmed some google searches, but I wasn't sure. My poem is not about dancing with the devil either. You'll see.😉
Sooooo.... yes, I was getting at feeling all emotions, as without, I might forget the meaning of love/life. 💖
That's practical thinking. Especially when it comes to love being the meaning of life, and not just romantically speaking.
On terms of the latter part though, life is molded by the gift and bittersweet loss of love, although I don't think we ever really lose that love, we just tuck it away. Sometimes we even realize it wasn't love. 💡

Okay, I'm getting too philosophical 🤭
