“The Look of Love” – Sérgio Mendes & Brasil ‘66

[media=https://youtu.be/_89EOwvhjx0]
“The Look of Love” is a song composed by lyricist Hal David and songwriter Burt Bacharach, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 94. R.I.P., Burt Bacharach, and thanks for all the wonderful music.

The first recording of “The Look of Love” was an instrumental version by jazz saxophonist Stan Getz in 1966. British pop singer Dusty Springfield popularized the song with her 1967 recording, which was the first to feature the song’s lyrics. I love both the Getz and Springfield versions.

Sérgio Mendes & Brasil ’66 also did a nice job with their version. It was a big hit for Mendes and his group, reaching #4 on the U.S. singles chart in 1968 and #2 on the Adult Contemporary chart.

Also, Sérgio Mendes turns 82 years old today. Happy birthday to the talented musician and bandleader.
