Kelsea Ballerini - 'Subject To Change'

Yep, more pop-country music that I love.

Have to say that I got the new Kelsea Ballerini album, 'Subject To Change', just this weekend - the weekend of release - and, I must say that I find it totally fantastic, sweetie! Great tunes, great earworm melodies and heartfelt personal lyrics.

Here's the first single, from earlier this year, 'Heart First'....

The whole premise of the record is that we grow, we change, we screw up, we take ownership, we carry on...all in 40 + minutes for fantastic music.

Better release than Miranda's? Yep. Better than Jenny Tolman? No, but on par. Better than Carrie's? Oh, come now! You know me....

But it's certainly worth more than a listen..

i'm pretty notorious at this point for trashing the genre but I've as much as admitted since my taste is so eclectic the genre fuses well with pop and it makes it palatable enough for me to enjoy.

It's just my way of firing back at the boys like you only hate it because you've only heard pop counrty it's like actually pop country is the only counrty that's any good.

@BetweenKittensandRiots Music and art can be very subjective for some. I have friends that don't like my music, and that's ok. Their music can be, to me, just not my type...and that's fine too.

You get variety by being different, right? Some people love the country music from the 50's and say the rest isn't authentic. Same with blues. Same with gospel. Progress happens, music evolves and it becomes it's own thing.

Or...in other words; I like what I like.

@CassandraSissy I really do think if these musicians are at all motivated by money though the majority of country music people should just quit making country and start making folk + rock.

Country has a demographic sure but it's not very wide, Folk is influenctial as hell, it's something "country people" have been making for a long time it's seen as close but honestly some of the most popular acts in the space have fandoms so wide even those of us who absolutely despise most of country are among the fandoms like they couldn't do it without some of us who are less than thrilled about 85 percent of country music.

it's roots go back a lot further too. WAY further.

But yeah good luck getting to 31 million views making country lol. yet alone nearly 100 million.

@Lilnonames Oh yes. Great tune. I think she's progressed quite nicely with each album. Sorry to hear that's she's also going through a divorce at the same time as this album has been released. She wears her heart on her sleeve, that's why I love her music....
