Purple Mountains
Usually when i leave i go and try to find a good depressing album, and boy oh boy this was a good find, it's instrumentally happy, but lyrically sad as hell, and then when you consider the guy singing committed suicide, well, even more potent. My only reservation about it is it's about relationships going sour, i'd like to for a change find a sad album that talks about for example the sorts of things the classic pessimists talked about, like a cosmic meaninglessness. Love and stuff sells though, we are living in a sour mood times also, which i confess i'd only relish alot if it wasn't the norm. When raw honesty surfaces in a sea of illusion however it matters not really how cliche it is, if it comes from a real place it's ok in my books. Here is Purple Mountains, sit back and wallow in the catchy misery.
