Your Musing

I seem to be chirping about my discoveries on that certain channel Epix these days. Apologizies. This morning, I kicked back and watched a musical piece featuring Neil Young while having breakfast.
Neil Young has never been an easy person to get along with. He has always forged his own path which has hovered between great success and abject curse. But in all things, I believe him to be brutally honest......with the things he's been involved with, and with his inner self.
Back in 2012, he wrote a book, "Waging Heavy Peace," in which I read that it was generally well accepted....but there was this little blurb I read this morning from a critic regarding his book which authored the title for this piece I write here.
In the critique, a critic pointed out that, in his episodic career that win or lose financially, he really doesn't care. His journey has always been about what he has created musically and lyrically. Young stated:
"I’m not here to sell things. That’s what other people do, I’m creating them. If it doesn’t work out, I’m sorry; I’m just doing what I do. You hired me to do what I do, not what you do. As long as people don’t tell me what to do, there will be no problem.” "I work for the muse."
No argument from me. 😉 But win, lose, or draw......he's comfortably responsible for his own ending. I call that total honesty. So that last little bit got me to thinking as early Autumn air courses through my house as I pose the question. Do you work purely for your muse?
