THE BOSTON PROMENADE ORCHESTRA - 'Jealousy - Tango Tzigane' (1935)

A lot of us will know this tune. This version I came across on an old 78rpm shellac disc while I was having a clear-out at home. Fortunately, I can still play these old records. Brits may know it as the old hit by Billy Fury. Or maybe the Stephane Grappelli and Yehudi Menuhin take on it some years later. Or maybe one of many others...
The Danish composer Jacob Gade wrote this in 1925. Its beauty and poignancy are undiminished to this day, The lilting rhythm still captivates, particularly in this reading by the Boston Promenade Orchestra conducted by Arthur Fiedler. There are a few hisses and crackles - but I don't mind.
