“A World Without Love” – Peter and Gordon

[media=https://youtu.be/rc7u79hCTFo]
On this day in 1964, this song went to #1 on the US singles chart. It also reached the top spot in the UK, Ireland, New Zealand, and Canada. The song is included in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.

A rough version of “A World Without Love” was written by Paul McCartney when he was 16, about six years before Peter and Gordon made their recording. In 1963, McCartney moved into Peter’s family home in London (he was dating Peter’s sister, actress Jane Asher, at the time), and the Beatle subsequently agreed to let P&G have the song. It was the first of several McCartney-penned hit songs released by the British pop duo.

Until then….lock me away
Here inside…where I hide
With my loneliness

Sweet, heartfelt cute songs…that’s Paul McCartney…and it reflects in his face this. 😇

@Vivaci Yep. This is unmistakably a Paul McCartney song. It's attributed to Lennon-McCartney, but there's no doubt that Paul wrote it.
@Rutterman Incredible how young he was when he wrote it…gies to show that once a romantic, always a romantic. No matter who turned up in his life, he only had a heart full of emotions and love to offer. 😊 That’s at the core of every poet, isn’t it? …’a song on their fingertips’…be it Shakespeare or Rumi or Paul M. 💖

@Vivaci Yes. He's clearly a natural-born talent, and definitely has a romantic soul. And yes, he is a poet of sorts. That's often true of the best songwriters, and Paul is one of the best of his generation, I think. 💖
@Rutterman I wholeheartedly concur…no wonder he has the Midas touch. 🎶✨ ✍️

Do you strive to write like him? 🤔

@Vivaci No, that's really not my style, but I nevertheless appreciate quality writing of that sort.
😘 I’m lucky I get to see that elusive side of yours. @Rutterman
