“Catfish Blues” – Taj Mahal
[media=https://youtu.be/SPqEMLgKVr4]
Today is National Catfish Day.
It’s supposed to be a day to celebrate the ray-finned fish whose barbels resemble a cat’s whiskers. In case you don’t know, catfish make excellent eating. I like mine coated in cornmeal and fried.
But if one wants to instead celebrate the well-known social media fixture that’s also called a “catfish”, I’m sure that would be okay too.
I’m using the day as an excuse to post Taj Mahal’s version of the blues standard, “Catfish Blues”. Many variations of the song have been performed over the years and I think this recording by Mahal might be the best one I’ve heard.
