Steve Vai Tour '22

Whilst our Kaz has detailed what we did for our daughter's birthday - buying some guitar stuff for her guitar - pickups and tremelo - and having it fitted elsewhere on this site, what she failed to mention that on the day after Hope's birthday we all went down (to Montreux? Nope...London! Lol!) to see her hero, Steve Vai, play a concert.

To say that she was beside herself was an understatement! We were near the front and, surprisingly enough, there were others of a similar age to Hope - she's now 'big girl' 8 years old - wanting to watch the man perform....

...and, what a performance! Not just a player of profound skill - likewise that tight band of his - but really quite captivating to watch too! Hope was excited. My first concert in a few years, and first seeing Mr Vai solo.

Fantastic show. Great sound (obviously!), wonderful playing, great tunes, lovely lighting and projection elements to the show. Loved every minute of it. Not quite 'Madonna-esque' for Kaz, but she enjoyed it too.

Hope's thoughts? Mesmerised. Happy. Inspired. Her only grumble? He didn't play 'Juice'...

Hey ho, you can't have everything!

So...thank you Steve, band and crew for a wonderful evening!

It's good to know you enjoyed it along with her.

@arthurca She said it was very loud! Lol! Her very first concert too!

Yeah. My bad? It was one of the highlights of Hope's life, so she told me! Lol! The crowd were full of geeks but they were lovely to us. The show was loud but really well paced. The band were just....phew....crazily proficient.

An enjoyable time with our girl. Plus she's been practicing a lot since!

Sounds fantastic.

An amazing guitarist. His Fire Garden suite remains one of my favourite pieces, especially when played consecutively with Bangkok

@SW-User Hard to imagine another unique composer. Yes, his playing is jaw-dropping, as well as the sounds that he gets, but what people do tend to miss are his tunes. The Fire Garden Suite is great.
