@ArtieKat Excellent! Yesterday, somewhere in Burnley123's "guitar riff" thread, I learned the song comes from their 1971 album "Aqualung". Not too bad, really, and the live version you posted is also great and a lot of fun!. Anderson's flute playing is reminiscent of jazz multi-instrumentalist Roland Kirk.

@helenS Kirk? the Inflated Tear? a multi instrumentalist genius!

@Yulianna Here's a nice story about RR Kirk:
"Roland Kirk used to be a clerk at a record store in Columbus and being blind, people used to go in to buy a record and would have to tell him what the record was, ad the price tag, and even tell him what bill they gave him, and if the change was correct or not! The punchline is, he was never, NOT ONCE ripped off or lied to!"
(Story stolen from that youtube video clip site.)
@Yulianna I’ve never heard of him

@Yulianna Proof that Ian Anderson was "influenced" (ahemm...) by Kirk:

Anderson's contribution was that he played in the same style, but in a folk/rock context.

@helenS On the first Jethro Tull album "This Was", they did a version of Kirk's" Serenade To A Cuckoo"

@helenS @Yulianna, "Benefit" is probably still my most favourite Tull album
