What a decent age to die...I hope he lived a good one. May his soul rest in peace. 💙🥀😇

Oh my!! Such a beautiful song...💖

@Vivaci My impression is that he did have a good life. And he had the good fortune to be recognized as a major country music talent during his lifetime. So many great artists are not fully appreciated until after they're gone. Btw, he was also a writer of novels and short stories, which isn't too surprising as he liked to tell stories in the songs he wrote.

It is a beautiful song, but Hall didn't write it; Don McLean ("American Pie") wrote and first recorded it. But I think Hall did a nice cover of the song and I thought it was a fitting one to post on this occasion.
Oh! I’d love to read some of his stories....

It’s an excellent pick! 👍 You know this song 🎶 reminds me of another song with a similar tune...[media=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=594smhY4o6U]

@Vivaci Here's a list of some of his books. No telling if any of them are still in print...

How I Write Songs, Why You Can (1976)
The Songwriter's Handbook (1976)
The Storyteller's Nashville (1979)
The Laughing Man of Woodmont Coves (1982)
The Acts of Life (1986)
Spring Hill, Tennessee (1990)
What a Book! (1996)
You didn’t see any similarities in that song? 🤨

Omg! I think I’ve read the Songwriters handbook or at least authored it in my previous job. 🤭

@Vivaci Honestly, I don't find them that similar. I like both songs, though.
😹 You’re tone deaf! 🤪

Nah...I’m kidding. It’s the same style of lyrics...🤭@Rutterman
