Name one album folk should listen to at least once before they die.

Just because it was the first thing off the top of my head, i'm going with
Led Zeppelin ~ Houses of the holy

Dark side of the moon- Pink Floyd
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Puckish Totally !

Although 'Animals' 'The division bell' and 'The wall' are also worth a listen.

Dire Straits- Brothers In Arms
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@SW-User Yep. Might be just me but i somehow rate 'earlier' Dire Straits rather than 'later'.

I'm sure that's an unfair assessment, maybe just me.
@SW-User Nice one that!
London Calling

Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@FreeSpirit1 Currently ranked #8 on the Rolling Stone top 500 albums chart !

Will probably annoy the Punk purist since having started from a Punk perspective, this album branches out into other genres including RnB; Reggae; Pop; Rock and maybe one or two others !

But yes ! Excellent choice !
@Picklebobble2 That's why it's so good, name another Punk group wbo put out an album as good as that...not many
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
The Velvet Underground and Nico 🙂
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Dlrannie Good choice ! Quite different from what a lot of other folk are suggesting !
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
@Picklebobble2 Haha and released 23 years before I was born - blame my Dad for my choice 😂😂

Marvin Gaye - What's going on
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@SW-User Yes it marks a specific era in history because of what the songs reflect in their lyrics !
SW-User
@Picklebobble2 Still pretty relevant really

Beatles White
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@SW-User Good choice and many might argue their best work !
Apparently they spent a month in India together prior to this album’s release (The Maharishi era)
summersong · F
Tom Waits—Blue Valentine

A Tribe Called Quest—The Low End Theory
SW-User
@summersong I love Blue Valentine
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@summersong Both those are good examples i think.
Guns N Roses - Appetite for Destruction

Bill Withers at Carnegie Hall are my faves.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Vivaci Anything Bill Withers is worth a listen. And yes, 'Appetite for destruction' is probably GnR best work.
Omg yea!!! And I love your taste in music, PB. So good choice of yours too. 👌🎶😍@Picklebobble2

Siouxsie and The Banshees - Tinder Box
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@SW-User Good choice ! Have you heard their earlier work ?
Tinder Box to me sounds far more polished and 'grown up' if you see what i mean ?
SW-User
thanks, @Picklebobble2 yes, i've heard it all, even if it's been a long minute since hearing most of their works. this album just really resonated with me when it came out. i was encouraging everyone, and their brother, to have a listen, ad nauseam, lol i still dig hearing the whole album at once. it's almost like one long transcendent song to me.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales There's something vaguely familiar about the vocal style of this lead singer.....Reminiscent of Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane) perhaps
@Picklebobble2 jerney Kaagman is her name.Earth and Fire were not big in Britain.
eli1601 · 70-79, M
Houses of the Holy or Physical Graffiti?
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@eli1601 Fairplay !
Were they albums you 'discovered' or were they.....(hate this expression) part of the zeitgeist of the time ? 😖
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@Picklebobble2 Actually, I was asking since Houses of the Holy, the song, was on the Physical Graffiti album.
Bastille - Bad Blood 😍

Hmmm...maybe. It’s just pages from our history, so there’s a bit of realism in it. @Picklebobble2
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Vivaci Yeah, i get it. 😉
I knew you would! 💙🤗@Picklebobble2
eli1601 · 70-79, M
The Beach Boys - Holland
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M

BabyLonia · F
Purple Rain- Prince
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@BabyLonia 24 consecutive weeks at #1 on The Billboard charts and widely regarded as Prince's seminal work.
AND annoyed Tipper Gore and the Parents Music Resource centre sufficiently that THAT was the first album to have Parental Advisory stickers slashed across it !
BabyLonia · F
@Picklebobble2 that was because of Darling Nikki

The album is a work of art
