Name one album folk should listen to at least once before they die.

Just because it was the first thing off the top of my head, i'm going with
Led Zeppelin ~ Houses of the holy
Dire Straits- Brothers In Arms
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
[@417364,Ozymandias] Yep. Might be just me but i somehow rate 'earlier' Dire Straits rather than 'later'.

I'm sure that's an unfair assessment, maybe just me.
[@417364,Ozymandias] Nice one that!
Puckish · 36-40, T
Dark side of the moon- Pink Floyd
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
[@585669,Puckish] Totally !

Although 'Animals' 'The division bell' and 'The wall' are also worth a listen.

London Calling

Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
[@157515,FreeSpirit1] Currently ranked #8 on the Rolling Stone top 500 albums chart !

Will probably annoy the Punk purist since having started from a Punk perspective, this album branches out into other genres including RnB; Reggae; Pop; Rock and maybe one or two others !

But yes ! Excellent choice !
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
[@448576,Picklebobble2] That's why it's so good, name another Punk group wbo put out an album as good as that...not many
Rooster · M
One more from the road!
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
[@527571,Rooster] Yes. Probably one of the best live albums too !
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
[@527571,Rooster] you stole my thunder. One of the best ever. Have you picked up this new release yet?

Marvin Gaye - What's going on
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
[@1190214,TUFKAL] Yes it marks a specific era in history because of what the songs reflect in their lyrics !
SW User
[@448576,Picklebobble2] Still pretty relevant really
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
The Velvet Underground and Nico 🙂
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
[@324037,Dlrannie] Good choice ! Quite different from what a lot of other folk are suggesting !
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
[@448576,Picklebobble2] Haha and released 23 years before I was born - blame my Dad for my choice 😂😂

Beatles White
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
[@449448,AlexaiSchlomokov] Good choice and many might argue their best work !
Apparently they spent a month in India together prior to this album’s release (The Maharishi era)
Guns N Roses - Appetite for Destruction

Bill Withers at Carnegie Hall are my faves.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
[@372543,Vivaci] Anything Bill Withers is worth a listen. And yes, 'Appetite for destruction' is probably GnR best work.
Omg yea!!! And I love your taste in music, PB. So good choice of yours too. 👌🎶😍[@448576,Picklebobble2]

[@334441,summersong] I love Blue Valentine
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
[@334441,summersong] Both those are good examples i think.
pentacorn · F
Siouxsie and The Banshees - Tinder Box
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
[@664411,pentacorn] Good choice ! Have you heard their earlier work ?
Tinder Box to me sounds far more polished and 'grown up' if you see what i mean ?
pentacorn · F
thanks, [@448576,Picklebobble2] yes, i've heard it all, even if it's been a long minute since hearing most of their works. this album just really resonated with me when it came out. i was encouraging everyone, and their brother, to have a listen, ad nauseam, lol i still dig hearing the whole album at once. it's almost like one long transcendent song to me.

Track list
1 Carnival Of The Animals 2:14
2 Ebbtide 3:07
3 Storm And Thunder 6:25
4 In The Mountains 3:03
5 Song Of The Marching Children
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
[@356742,SirfurryanimalWales] There's something vaguely familiar about the vocal style of this lead singer.....Reminiscent of Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane) perhaps
Sirfurryanimal · 61-69, M
[@448576,Picklebobble2] jerney Kaagman is her name.Earth and Fire were not big in Britain.
Bastille - Bad Blood 😍

Hmmm...maybe. It’s just pages from our history, so there’s a bit of realism in it. [@448576,Picklebobble2]
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
[@372543,Vivaci] Yeah, i get it. 😉
I knew you would! 💙🤗[@448576,Picklebobble2]

Houses of the Holy or Physical Graffiti?
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
[@10531,eli1601] Fairplay !
Were they albums you 'discovered' or were they.....(hate this expression) part of the zeitgeist of the time ? 😖
eli1601 · 70-79, M
[@448576,Picklebobble2] Actually, I was asking since Houses of the Holy, the song, was on the Physical Graffiti album.
Purple Rain- Prince
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
[@406205,InOtterWords] 24 consecutive weeks at #1 on The Billboard charts and widely regarded as Prince's seminal work.
AND annoyed Tipper Gore and the Parents Music Resource centre sufficiently that THAT was the first album to have Parental Advisory stickers slashed across it !
[@448576,Picklebobble2] that was because of Darling Nikki

The album is a work of art
eli1601 · 70-79, M
The Beach Boys - Holland
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
[@10531,eli1601] Listening now...
