Music battle: who is the true king of rock n roll? Elvis or Chuck Berry?

And explain why.

Chuck Berry. Elvis was a great performer but he was essentially copying black music, plus he quickly left rock and roll behind and became more of a pop star, movie singer, Las Vegas lounge act.

And a good argument could be made for Little Richard, too.
PaulMcCartney · 26-30, F
@ChipmunkErnie: yes I agree.

Elvis got his success thanks to timing I think.
That's all.
One lucky guy in the right place at the right time.
Popular music was changing.
Social attitudes to young folk were changing.
Radio was changing.
Music listening equipment at home was changing.
Television was in it's heyday.
Like I say. One very lucky guy !
Berry ? Well, he's certainly the jukebox king !
Producers; radio managers; promoters all liked Berry because he could produce the perfect 2minute 30second jukebox tune !
Which made them all a lot of money !!
As an artist ? Not bad singer. Good performer. Pretty good writer too.

Elvis also had a great voice. Thing is, I find his voice and style falling in line with the great crooners, like Dean martin, than with the blues singers who were so basic to rock and roll.

Defo Check Berry - Elvis is overrated & copied African American music
@PaulMcCartney: His voice is so damn amazing. how he sings really and the deep voice just wow.
I could listen to the music for hours. His lyrics is great, heart-melting amazingly good 😍

@Chloe1o: you do know he didn't write most of his songs. I still think Chuck Berry is a better musician.
@PaulMcCartney: oh he didn't?
didnt know. that is stupid. But still his voice is amazing.

Jerry Lee Lewis certainly rocked harder than Elvis.
