Fairport Convention's Where The Time Goes, sung by Sandy Denny. (I think that's the right title.)

And though not a song at all but all-instrumental and orchestral, Sibelius' Symphony No.2.

@ArishMell Sibelius 2 is wonderful. But I find it inspiring, not sad.

@MartinII It was the first symphony I "discovered" - I agree though that inspiring would be the better adjective. It would be more accurate to say it moves me rather than makes me sad.

@ArishMell Yes me too. I introduced it to my partner while we were driving through Europe last year, and she couldn’t hear it often enough. And we heard an excellent performance by the LPO in February. Would that we could drive anywhere, or go to a concert, now!

@ArishMell A more general thought. It’s interesting how sad or tragic music can often be uplifting, which overtly happy music sometimes isn’t.

@MartinII Mmmm, Good point. I must admit I'd not realised that. Perhaps it's because it's more deeply emotional and often a lot more complex musically than the simply happy music.
