@DeWayfarer 'Billy Don't be a Hero'? Ah yes, 1974..that's about my least favourite period in pop. It got to No.1, and someone I knew at the time said 'every kid under the age of ten must have gone out and bought it'. More was to come (Goodies, Wombles...)

@DeWayfarer I remember a group called White Plains doing that in the UK, featuring the ubiquitous Tony Burrows (White Plains, Edison Lighthouse, The First Class, The Pipkins...) THE PIPKINS! 😧 Nobody's mentioned 'Gimme Dat Ding' yet! In its defence I would say it was actually supposed to be a stupid record, whereas a lot of stupid records weren't.
