Who’s the best guitarist ever?

Eric Clapton? Jimi Hendrix? Mark Knopfler? Or somebody else?

I never thought I would say this, but lately I've been listening to Jeff Beck. Note for note , riff for riff, Clapton still strikes a chord with me, and Knofler has proven his chops more than once or twice. However, pound for pound, the most innovative of legendary guitarists , in my mind at least, has to be Jeff Beck. Well into his 70's, and still pushing the envelope, while many of his contemporaries have rested on their lurals instead. Resigning themselves to what they do best, but never venturing beyond that comfort zone. Jeff still shows promise, and it's not every aging rock star that can say that. For all we know, in spite of an extensively good catalogue of music backing him up, his best work just might still be to come.

@SW-User Interesting, well said, but I'd have to think about it.
