Ennio Morricone is a great film composer.

Listen to his Al Capone theme from The Untouchables.

His music for the theme to The Red Tent made me cry, it was so heavenly and pure and passionate and innocent and otherworldly and sincere.
I enjoy some films which feature the music of Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman and Philip Glass.

@EugenieLaBorgia Danny Elfman is one of my favorites, too!
I love his Tim Burton films (Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and Batman (1989) come to mind) and Spider-Man (2002) was one of my favorites by him! I love the music in the moments after the Green Goblin's impalement and death, when the camera shows traumatized Spider-Man's face through the torn mask.
@ClockworkMustache My first encounter with Danny Elfman's music was in the film 'Darkman' with Liam Neeson!

Jerry Goldsmith's and Alan Silvestri's compositions were a success.
The Mummy, Death Becomes Her, The Omen, Back to the Future, Contact...

Taxi Driver film score by Bernard Herrmann is on my mind. The additional soundtrack tracks by David Blume are good too.
I always cry when i watch the notebook.

@lulaluboo Did you ever see the actor James Garner, who played the old man, when he was a younger actor in any movies or TV shows?

The one from pirates of the caribbean and from jurasic park.
My very favorite film composer was the late James Horner. And this movie as well as the incredible music made me cry.

@bijouxbroussard I haven't listened to that yet, but I loved his Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan score which made me cry. I love the track "Spock" and the death track as while later in the album.
I loved James Horner's music for Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
