Am I the only one aorund here who thinks Grunge Music needs a comeback?

My melancholy is infinite and hungry.

I love grunge, but I don't want to see bands deliberately try to imitate grunge, because the imitation is usually shallow. But I'd love to hear new bands that capture the raw energy that the old grunge bands had.

@DDonde Well no one wants an outright imitation but a band that can draw inspiration from the heavy chords and lyrics, coupled with the experimental sounds of guitar (for instance, the Black Hole Sun sound, I think would be an instant success.

@Sarin I've heard a few bands that didn't really go anywhere that tried too hard to sound like Nirvana but didn't really have anything else going for them.

The guitar in BHS uses a heavy flanger effect IIRC.

I'd love a new band that sounds like Soundgarden, but whenever most people think of grunge, they immediately think of Nirvana, which is very different.

@DDonde I've studied grunge for a long time, I think a SoundGarden sound would be a breath of fresh air. Obviously the sound wouldn't be exactly like soundgarden but it would have to pay homage. What bands do you think come close?
DDonde · 31-35, M
@Sarin I don't know of any newish bands that sound like Soundgarden. But I know that Soundgarden was heavily inspired by Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, so you could look for new bands inspired by those bands as well.

@DDonde There are bands I have found that come very close. Would you like to hear?
DDonde · 31-35, M
@Sarin Sure.

@DDonde @DDonde SuperHeaven. Check em out. Basement too. Any song will do.

@Sarin I like "Life in a Jar", but I don't really think they sound like Soundgarden. They have much more of a post-grunge alt rock influence, IMO.

Check out Leach by SuperHeaven. Definitely get some vibes from that one.

@DDonde I said they would come clsoe to capturing the grunge sound, SoundGarden is a whole nother monster.
