Have you ever been to an opera ?

I lived a few minutes away from the San Francisco Opera house. Never got the chance to attend one. I live with regret.

I grew up in the "neighborhood", when Kurt Herbert Adler was the director. I have not been back for a performance, since moving. I have been to a few performances. The San Francisco Opera program, was instrumental in getting the Seattle Opera going.

Most memorable opera I've been to: a performance of Carmen, during the opening weekend of the Verona Opera season, at the Arena de Verona. Even my young boys (at the time), loved it.

That sounds amazing. @Northwest
I've been to a few :)
If you want to watch, I'd start with Elixir of Love, Marriage of Figaro, or Pirates of Penzance. La Bohemè is good too, but that's a major tear jerker.

I’m a big fan of the classical greats. @GohantheThird

@GohantheThird La Boheme 💕. My son sang with our local company as a child in the marketplace.
@abooklover my favorite bit of the opera is act 2

No.. Me either... And tbh I don't think I could sit through one... But there are some Opera pieces I love...
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@SW-User yep!
That's the one!
Trying to forget the visuals for a moment, I just love the slow sensuality of the music ... This is going to sound strange but it's like slipping into a comfortable pair of old jeans... It just fits and feels right

@ozgirl512 I get what you mean. Perfect music to make love to or even collect your thoughts and reminisce 😌

@SW-User exactly!...

Yes my wife introduced me to the Opera around 2007 and I fell in love with it. Been to many the last few seasons in Atlanta. I can not more highly recommend any live performance more than going to the Opera. The drama can truly draw you in, and you combine that with the amazing talent of the performers on stage and in the orchestra, a person does not go to the Opera, they experience it.

Yes ! My father took me to see Leontyne Price when I was small. I’ve been to several since then.
@Northwest Based on my grade at the time, it was 68 or 69 when I went with Pop.

@bijouxbroussard I did not realize she performed in the late 60s, in San Francisco.
@Northwest Yes. I was still in elementary school.

@sighmeupforthat I’ll look forward to a show at the Sydney Opera House in future. ☺️

@SW-User 🙂 any art appeal in your city or nearby would always appreciate your support.

And that sounds like a smashing idea!
