What is your favorite group/band at the moment and what are your favorite songs by them?

Currently my favorite band is a Swedish metal band called Sabaton. They all their songs are about historical battles or warriors/soldiers.

Here is one of my favorite songs by them Primo Victoria its about D-day and someone set it to Saving Private Ryan.

This song is called 40-1 and its the battle of Winza (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Wizna) In which 350 to 720 Polish soldiers held of 40,000 Nazi soldiers for three days with inferior equipment to buy time for the rest of the Polish army at the cost of being almost entirely annihilated. However the video is a fan one of a movie of the Warsaw uprising.

The meaning behind this song, is a nod of respect to the Chasseurs Ardennais. Their emblem is a Wild boar ("The boar against the eagle" obviously referencing the eagle seen in German insignia/icons vs the Belgian boar). While other units in the region were told to retreat, the Chasseur Ardennais never received word to fall back. As such, they dug in and fought back against one of the most powerful armed forces the world had ever seen up to that point. 40 men versus armored cars, tanks and overwhelming infantry. Considering how ferocious their defense had been, the Germans had believed the defensive forces were far greater in number. When German forces finally overwhelmed the Belgian defenders, they were (understandably) shocked to find so few men holding the line, they asked "Where are the rest of your men?", the Chasseurs laughed and told them flat out "There are no others- we are all!". Resist and Bite was the Chasseurs Ardennais motto/battlecry. When the pin of the Boar shows up ( 2:15 approximately) You can see the cry ("Resiste Et Mords") engraved in their pin.

This song honors the Soviet Bomber regiment the Night Witches. A group of female pilots who flew the Po-2 biplane light bomber in the Second World war. They would do light bombing missions flying low and slow. This bomber was designed in 1933. The Po-2 had almost no radar signature due to its wood and canvas frame. And its low speed made many commanders dismiss the crafts as civilian. When intercepted, they would fly a few feet over the trees, causing some fighters crashed (including during the Korean war, an F-86 Saber, making the Po-2 to the only biplane to claim a kill on a jet). In addition its speed was lower than the stall speed of German Bf109 making it very hard to shoot down and they had no parachutes as that would weigh down the plane to much. Also they were called the night witches as they turned off their engines to glide over the bomb site so the only thing the enemy could hear was wind resistance when they flew over much like a broom. Finally they flew over 500 missions with only 40 casualties.

I've recently found nerdcore rap, and other geek related music. MC Frontalot has a lot of stuff I like, "Disaster", about disaster movies, "Goth girls"...and I love Kirbyville Krackle, who pretty much does comic book related songs....
