I think they are. They seem to have a lot of their fanbases in common, at any rate.

@Madgirl I guess according to Wikipedia, if that is to be believed, Dio is [i]not[/i] regarded as power metal, but as a common source of inspiration for many acts that were classified as such.

I'm pretty bad with music subcultural genres.
